Day 7 of South Africa's lockdown and I am keeping supremely busy working on my blog. I like to start my day off (before the work begins) with some coffee and a little dance around my house. Today was another solitary Sunday listening to Buddy Holly and reading about the life of Julie Andrews. I drank a lot of coffee and I ate one of those microwave cake in a mug things which aren't that great really but I didn't have a choice. I needed some comfort food and that's all I had in my cupboard. You know what else is a comfort? Musicals! Julie Andrews and her stories about working on the sets of Mary Poppins and the Sound of Music have made me remember all over again why I love the movies so much. Sometimes all you can do is leave this world behind and escape to another world, even if it's just for a little while. I also managed to write and post a book review on a book about another amazing human being - the late David Bowie. What do you do to help keep yourself calm? Not surprisingly I know a lot of you are experiencing anxiety at this time. Personally when I'm feeling anxious I like to watch old movies or comforting series. Reading always helps but it's good to mix it up. To also help combat my anxiety I'm going to force myself to do a lot more writing in the coming weeks, months. I'll try to review a few more films too so we can get this anxiety thing under control. To be honest I'm not sure what kind of caption these days doesn't involve #coronavirus Its so easy to get overwhelmed when you lapse occasionally at being strong. I guess your state of mind also has to do with which side of the fence you sit on. Are you the panicker that has bought all the hand sanitizer so that no one else can buy any or are you the person that shares insensitive memes on the internet? (I'm talking about memes that make fun of sufferers and not just general slightly okeyish memes that everyone shares). I like to think that I'm not either of these. It scares me that the world is reacting in such opposing ways.
